The RunIQ is a smartwatch developed for runners and triathletes through a partnership of New Balance, Intel, and Strava. Mixer's Mechanical Engineering team developed every component and collaborated with electrical engineers and Asian manufacturers to deliver this intricate product. This program was one of the most complex we’ve ever encountered and the teamwork across disciplines had to tick like the movement of a fine watch.
Just Right
The physical interaction with this smartwatch required us to get the feel of every feature just right. We experimented with methods and materials to be sure of a good fit on large and small wrists. We worked hard to dial-in the tactile feedback of every button and dial.
High Pressure - Reliable Process
Every facet of this design required high precision. Bio-sensors had to function reliably under extreme conditions. We tested the device in our lab with Swiss laser instrumentation to verify that our waterproof design would withstand more than 5 atmospheres of pressure. Our very thorough testing regime insured success.
